Balkalakaar
For the first time in India, an event is organized for more than seven thousand children in south Gujarat. On 20th of December 2009, an event named Bal kalakaar will be organized for more than 3000 slum children and 3000 urban children.
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”
- Eleanor Roosevelt
And to realize the beauty of one’s dream, one has to visualize a dream. With this thought in mind, AIESEC Baroda, a local chapter of AIESEC India, is organizing Asia’s largest Art workshop— BALKALAKAAR – An artist in every child.
Considering that there has been no platform for more than 7000 children to put their thoughts on paper and show it to world, this event was taken up by AIESEC which is world’s largest youth run organization recognized by UNO.
Children of these slum areas are very sharp thinkers but then, they are still not able to put their thoughts across for the simple reason that there exists no proper mode through which they can tell what they think. So we as AIESEC in Baroda realized that, we can provide these smart children a chance to put all their thoughts on paintings and make clay toys. Also we are giving a chance to them to show their artistic skills by creating best out of waste.
This event would be co-coordinated by our partner NGO volunteers, International interns and AIESEC members. The three broad themes of the competition are:
• Environment
• Baroda of my dreams
• My education
